  • Sound Spectrum Visualizer

    November 11th, 2008 at 3:16 PM

soundspectrum.jpgAnother great sound visualizer done in Papervision3D by Stephane Schittly. This one uses Zupko’s QuadrantRenderEngine which allows to split triangles when necessary.

“I used the latest Papervision 2.0 release, with 4 cameras. I also used TweenMax for all tweenings; the tweens can have a different duration based on the sound spectrum.

There are usually around 40 tweens running at the same time and it was really amazing to see how they are always properly cleaned. I didn’t get any memory leak or any speed change, even after make it run for hours (if you’ve noticed anything, don’t hesitate to post a comment).

  • Papervision Planetarium

    November 10th, 2008 at 4:56 PM

planetarium.jpgMichael Lively has published a great and expansive tutorial on how to create a Papervision Planetarium at his blog.

“If you’re a Papervision purist, stop reading, close this post, and go for a cup of coffee. We are going to hack the heck out of Papervision, and it’s going to get ugly! On the other hand, if you’re ready to rock let’s get started.

The good news is that the entire code is only about 200 lines (counting spaces). Coming from the 2D Flash 8 world that’s pretty amazing. There are two parts to this hack. Creating a SkyMap class and creating the main Flex application which uses the SkyMap class.

  • Grant Skinner’s 3D Music Visualizer

    November 10th, 2008 at 4:49 PM

skinner.jpgGrant Skinner has published a 3D Music Visualizer using Flash Player 10’s new 3D APIs. It’s a rotating sphere that transitions into a disc using GTween.

“Here’s a simple tech demo showing a 3D music visualizer using the flash player 10’s new 3D APIs, with a rotating sphere that transitions into a disc using GTween. Nothing too complex, but the result is kind of neat, and it is simple enough to serve as a quick entry into using the new APIs if you’re getting started. It also uses the new Vector type in player 10.

To me its cool that you can now whip out simple 3D content right in Flash in a matter of minutes, and then step up to the big guns with PaperVision 3D or Away 3D as necessary.”

    November 10th, 2008 at 4:37 PM

qball.jpgDan Adijans and Brian Neong San have made a simple, yet addictive flash game called Q-Ball using AS3 and PV3D.

Play Q-ball Game and try to kick the football at the golden premier cups, try and get as many cups before the timer runs out.

“Just wanted to know what people’s thoughts were. We tried to keep the idea simple and do it well.”

  • New Papervision3D Template at Template Monster

    October 30th, 2008 at 5:26 PM

tm2.gifThe guys at Template Monster have created another stunning template using Papervision. I’ve never seen this one used before and it’s pretty cool.

The template sells for $135 which is a bit on the high end, but it’s a solid product nonetheless based on the example I’ve seen.

Hopefully they made it easy to edit…. I’ve purchased TM templates in the past and they were a nightmare to edit, hopefully this one will be better.

Have you purchased this template and tried it out?  If you did, please leave your feedback.
